Dr. Katya Sczepanik is the practice owner and sole veterinarian at La Vernia Veterinary Hospital. She built the practice with the help of her love, Trey Fohn, who also happens to be a general contractor by trade. Together, they have six children ranging in age from 16 years to 1 month old.
Dr. Sczepanik grew up on a farm outside of Panna Maria, TX and graduated from Karnes City High. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Animal Science (beef cattle emphasis) from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX prior to attending and graduating veterinary school at Mississippi State University in 2016.
Dr. Sczepanik has professional experience with both small and large animals. She has special interests in surgery and dermatological care, but sees all kinds of animals and cases.
At home, Dr. Sczepanik and her family raise dogs (Pitbull, Labrador, and dachshund) and cattle. Outside of work, Dr. Sczepanik enjoys spending time with her family and exercising.
Rachael has been in the veterinary field for 17 years and serves as our Office Manager. She has a passion for client education and customer service, and her lifelong love for animals shines through in her work every day. Rachael has two dogs named Tabasco and Valentina, as well as two kitties named Katty and Egg. She is a huge Star Wars fan and loves geeking out with fellow nerds. In her free time, Rachael enjoys baking goodies, reading books, and playing video games with her husband, Travis.
Tanya has been a proud San Antonian for over 20 years after moving from California at a young age. Her passion for animals has led her to work in animal care and customer service for more than 8 years. She has a lovely calico cat named Callie, who is spoiled rotten, and she’s also the proud auntie of a very good Labrador Retriever named Zepplin. Tanya is dedicated to taking care of her family and enjoys reading books, playing TTRPGs with her friends, and fitting in a few video games whenever she can.
Destiny is a veterinary technician and a proud La Vernia native, born and raised. She is married to her college sweetheart, Cody, and together they have two boys, Owen and Beck, along with two dogs, one pig, and lots of chickens. Destiny grew up around both the beef and dairy cattle industries and has a strong passion for bovine reproduction. She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Master of Science in Agriculture and Consumer Resources from Tarleton State University.
When she’s not at work, Destiny enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, reading, attending baseball games to watch her brother play and her husband coach, and running her two small businesses.
Chasity has been working in the veterinary field as a veterinary assistant for more than 15 years. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, especially surgery and anesthesia. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Robert, and their three children.
Chasity has two Golden Retrievers and breeds Holland Lop rabbits for show and as beloved pets. She also has a strong passion for horses.
